The Power of Conversation

When Ice Seguerra (a close friend of TrainStation’s founders Carelle Mangaliag-Herrera and RR Herrera) became Chair of the National Youth Commission in 2016, the focus expanded toward deeper youth crises: teenage pregnancy, drugs, suicide, and HIV.

Public school teachers were not always comfortable addressing these topics in the classroom. So instead of imposing lectures, we built something radically simple:
A conversation.

Not between teachers and students—but between parents and children.

“USAP TAYO”

Workplace implementation of 'Usap Tayo' systems, creating sustainable mental health support for employees.

In Payatas, Smokey Mountain, Marikina, and beyond, parents and children—many of whom had never spoken openly or honestly before—were guided into structured dialogue.

First separated to surface truth safely, then reunited to hear each other fully, and finally brought into a shared space where gratitude, honesty, and understanding could be spoken aloud.

Out of this work came a broader movement and campaign ecosystem. To extend the impact beyond live sessions, a series of videos was also produced to support the “Usap Tayo” initiative—bringing its core messages into homes, schools, and communities, and addressing real-life pressures such as peer influence, bullying, drugs, and adolescent confusion.

Because healing, we realized, does not begin in schools or policies.
It begins at home.
